On October 15th, 2009. Buell Motorcycles announced closure of their manufacturing plant in East Troy, Wisconsin. Harley Davidson has chosen to drop the Buell motorcycle and pick the Italian Sportbike Augusta MV. In one word....."ew"
A video from Erik Buell stating the tragic decision he had to make is located here.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc. since 1998, Buell Motorcycle Company was founded in 1983 by Erik Buell and produced more than 135,000 motorcycles. Over the past 26 years, Buell motorcycles won numerous design accolades and awards, and countless races and championships around the world, including the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike championship in 2009 by the Danny Eslick Team support by Geico Power Sports.
This is the 1125cr that Danny rode to victory. Beating, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Ducati and others. Augusta MV has never competed in modern sport bike racing. However it's popularity was due to Christian Bale riding the MV in the Movie Batman!!! WOOWOOoooooo....... /sarcasm
This company broke the rules on sportbike design not for the sake of being different. But because design aspects of modern motorcycles needed a makeover. Such as, fuel in the frame, a swingarm as an oil tank, a zero torsional load perimeter mounted brake rim, V twim power plant with power band extended from idle to red-line, and various others. It doesn't take skill to go fast in a straight line. Any noob on a bike can do that. Nor does it take skill to twist a throttle. Buell bikes were designed as street fighters and made for those that spend their time in the twisties on the back roads where knees scrape the pavement and the smile broadens.
I've enjoyed reading several different forums of Buell riders and realizing why this company is so amazing.
I've ridden over 6 different brands of motorcycles. I've test driven a Buell and nothing made me smile more. This article gives insight into why Buell owners don't care about what other people think and why they're owners are so dedicated.

After selling my Suzuki M50 in Logan, UT I knew I wouldn't be able to live long without being on two wheels. This was the next bike on my list. It's literally the only sport-bike that would keep me out of trouble.

The buell motorcycle does have it's faults along with all the others on the market so no I'm not saying it's absolutely perfect for everyone but it was for me.
As far as I'm concerned Harley Davidson has been blacklisted from my sub conscious until the end of time.
HHHEEEELLLLLOOOOO DUCATI! (If I can convince the wife)
